Across the USA and the world, over 200 radio stations will celebrate the unique format of vinyl records by going vinyl-only on the air for Vinylthon 2024, this Friday, April 20 & 21.
This year the official ambassador for Vinylthon is Third Man Records. Ben Blackwell, co-founder of Third Man Records, and official archivist of The White Stripes, says “For me personally, and for Third Man Records, it’s insanely appreciated! We couldn’t be happier that there’s over 200 radio stations, and maybe that’s one way that we’ll see vinyl growth is in the radio realm.” Blackwell has recorded an exclusive interview to be aired on participating stations during the Vinylthon weekend event.

Organized by the non-profit College Radio Foundation and open to all radio stations, commercial and non-commercial, Vinylthon is an industry-wide fundraiser supporting vital Next Step Radio Scholarships for students who aspire to become professional radio broadcasters after graduation. “We welcome student, community, and commercial radio stations from around the world to join us for Vinylthon 2024!” adds Quicke. For the first time, over 200 radio stations will be participating. “This is our 9th Vinylthon, and we keep growing!” says Quicke.
Radio stations that broadcast at least 24 hours of vinyl during the event will be presented with the Golden Slipmat Award from Glowtronics, to recognize their deep passion for vinyl.
